New landmark to rise in the city’s South

CAMELLA, a subsidiary of Villar-owned Vista Land & Lifescapes, the largest homebuilder in the country, is not only building communities through its various housing and condominium development projects in Davao City but is also bent on pursuing mall development, particularly in the southern part of the city.
Star Mall, owned by the family of Senator Manuel Villar, will soon rise along the national highway in Mintal, where Camella is also developing Cerritos, a Mediterranean-inspired community sprawled over nine hectares of land with three more hectares intended for the mall.
“Construction of the mall will by second quarter of next year. This is part of our mission to bring closer the needs of the community that we are building,” Camella-Davao general manager Marlon Escalicas said.
He said Star Mall is located in front of Cerritos and is expected to transform this quiet part of uptown Davao into a vibrant and exciting landscape, generating economic activity that will enhance the local trade and industry.
The mall development has project cost of at least P1 billion.
“The mall will house concept stores and brands that cater to the needs of nearby communities. It will have an entertainment area, almost the same as Star Malls in Metro Manila,” Escalicas said.
He said a Manila-based and local chain of department stores and supermarkets are presently talking with Camella in their bid to set up shops at Star Mall.
“These chains will definitely be our anchor stores,” Escalicas said.
He said they are eyeing the city’s third legislative district as their market, including some 500 homeowners at Cerritos, which, at present, is more than 50 percent sold, making it one of Camella’s bestselling developments with packages that make it more affordable and accessible to homebuyers looking to live in a master planned Camella community.
Camella is offering Cerritos houses and townhomes in packages that go as low as P794,000, a mid-price range that will make Cerritos one of the most affordable themed developments in Davao.
The massive land development is now 90 percent complete, according to Escalicas.
House construction will start before the year ends or early next year.
Cerritos will have two storey homes, bungalow houses, and low priced townhomes set within well-manicured lawns and lush landscape that is as verdant as any Camella community.
Like its sister subdivisions, Solariega and Toscana, Cerritos will have deluxe amenities like clubhouse, swimming pool, open parks and playgrounds, tree-lined pathways, grand entrance gate with CCTV hooked up to its 24/7 security system, perimeter fence and shuttle service.
Cerritos will provide its homeowners an idyllic, laid-back lifestyle within the fresh, green environment of Mintal. While it is located away from the congestion of downtown Davao, it is only about a 17-minute drive away from the city proper.
It is a short ride or drive to major malls and department stores, hospitals, churches, public markets, schools and universities. Its location strikes a good balance between proximity to all living essentials and modern conveniences, and locating in idyllic, nature-rich Mintal, making Cerritos an ideal home base for every family.
